Ford, Volkswagen, BMW, Daimler, Partner On Electric Vehicle Charging Network

IONITY
The Volkswagen,  BMW Group, Daimler AG, Ford Motor will start building fast-charging stations along European highways this year, They intend to open at least 20 stations in multiple European countries by the end of 2017.

The automakers created a joint-company name, IONITY, which will aim to develop and implement 400 high-powered charging network across the continent by 2020.

IONITY will expand its network to 100 stations in 2018, each enabling several drivers of different car brands to charge their vehicles at the same time.




IONITY charging stations will offer a charging capacity of up to 350 kW which will enable reduced charging time significantly when compared to existing systems.

A total of 20 charging stations will be opened to the public this year, located on major roads in Germany, Norway and Austria, at intervals of 120 km, through partnerships with service stations and convenience stores.
