Apple iOS 12 will Automatically share your iPhone location for 911 Calls


Apple iPhone users who call 911 will be able to automatically share their location with first responders, Apple is rolling out a new feature in its next iPhone software update to send emergency responders instant.

Apple's promise, the iPhone's next operating system will automatically deliver quicker and more reliable information pinpointing the location .Emergency calling centers, however, don't get that detailed location information from mobile 911 calls.

Over the last few years, approximately 80 percent of 911 calls come from mobile devices. Response time and location determination are hampered by landline-era infrastructure.

Apple iOS 12 sets up iPhones to relay location for 911 calls

Apple's upcoming 911 feature relies on technology from RapidSOS, a New York startup. The companies announced the feature Monday at the National Emergency Number Association (NEMA) conference in Nashville.

 Apple announced that it will use RapidSOS’s Internet Protocol-based data pipeline to quickly and securely share HELO (Hybridized Emergency Location) data with 911 centers. the major programs used by the 6,300 emergency response departments across the US.
